No, The Ultimate Box writes designs to The Ultimate Card version I, II, & III, the Amazing (Magic, Universal Embroidery Translator, Dream Maker, Bernina box) blank card and 512Kilobyte (4Megabit) Brother blank embroidery card.
The card for Brother type (PES) machines that works in one-slot Ultimate boxes and a 2-slot Ultimate Box II is the same Ultimate card, version I. Ultimate card III is for Pfaff and Artista machines and is used in the second slot of Ultimate Box II. Original manufacturer's re-writable cards as well as pre-programmed design cards (read designs and save them to the computer) can be used with all boxes.
Ultimate card, version II is only needed for use with PE-Design (Deco Wizard, Baby Lock Palette) boxes ver. 4.0 and higher and PED-Basic.

Why does Embird only work with some of the Artista models?
At this time it will only work with Artista models 200 and newer. Even original Artista cards for 185 and older models cannot be used in Artista 200 and up.
