Cool Tool: Gravity Feed Iron in ThreadsMagazine.com
Vicki, you have the silicone iron rest that is reinforced with metal inside, so you can leave the gravity feed iron on in a horizontal position anytime while you are going back and forth to your sewing and pattern table work. You only need to turn the iron off when you are leaving the room and don't know when you will be back. The iron rest should also be put on a table or ironing board surface that can take any residual heat being transferred to the surface of your ironing board or table. PS If your silicone rest pad had no metal reinforcement, then the pad needs to be set on metal, not directly your ironing board or table.
Thank you so much for the information you have given me. I love this iron and now will truly enjoy it without fear of burning my house down. My silicone iron rest does include the metal on the inside as a magnet attaches itself to it readily. I think I'm in good shape. Again, thanks for your help. Vicki
