Pull 6" of thread through needle
Wrap the thread around the gauge hook
Pull the gauge towards you with the numbers facing up
As you pull, take note of the reading as this is the tension reading in grams. Polyester tension should be 120-150 grams and Rayon should be 100-120 grams.
Adjust you main tension knob until you get the correct reading.

Your embroidery will look its best with consistent, balanced thread tensions. Here's how to use a top embroidery thread tension gauge to take the tension out of setting tensions!
Instructions for Use:
- Pull approximately 6 inches of thread through the needle and presser foot.
- Wrap the thread around the gauge hook (sometimes it's necessary to wrap it
several times so it won't slip).
- Steadily pull the gauge towards you with the window of the barrel facing up.
- As you pull, take note of the reading. These represent tension readings in grams. Polyester threads require higher tensions than Rayon. Polyester tensions 120 to 150 grams. Rayon tensions 100 to 120 grams.
- Adjust your machine main tension knob until you get the desired reading.
Once you have adjusted your thread tensions, it's always a good idea to run tests.
- First run the fill stitch test pattern.
- If you experience any top stitch looping, slowly tighten the main upper tension knob until this looping goes away (looping can also occur if your bobbin tension is too tight).
- Proper tensions for satin stitches should reveal 1/3 bobbin and 2/3 top thread color on the underside of the embroidery.
Note: Too much bobbin showing on the underside and/or showing on the topside usually means either the bobbin tension is too loose or the top thread tension is too tight

This guide is used for setting the folded width of the fabric and the stitching position for coverstitching.This guide can set the folded width of the fabric and align the edge of the fabric from the back side, where it is difficult to see the coverstitching. First fold the fabric to the width that is to be sewn and then adjust the guide according to the width of the fold. This guide is perfect for finishing pants and sleeve hems of clothes.

Application
The Hemmer Guide helps folding the hem and assures perfect placement
of the upper hem edge during cover stitching. It can be used with different
fabrics, knits or wovens, and is suitable for light to medium weight materials.
The materials need to be slid trough the guide without resistance.
For your safety
Before using the accessory, please read the instruction manual of the overlock machine and the accessory.
Assembly
➢ Place the Cloth Guide onto the CS Insert (4)
➢ Place the Folded Edge Guide on top of it.
➢ Fit the two Fixation Screws through the two parts and tighten slightly.
Adjustment
➢ The Cutting Edge Guide (5, left guide) is lined up with the left Coverstitch
needle.
➢ By loosening the upper adjustment screw (6) adjust the Outer Folded
Edge Guide (7) to the desired seam width in a range of 15 - 23mm (1/2” -
7/8”).
➢ Adjust the Cloth Guide (8) into the Folded Edge Guide, leaving 2 to 4mm
(approx. 1/8”) open, depending on the thickness of the fabric.
➢ Tighten the Fixation Screws and the adjustment screw securely.
➢ The fabric needs to move freely without resistance! Consider cross-seams
if applicable.
Stitches, Threading, Settings
➢ Thread the Overlocker for 3-Needle or 2-Needle Coverstitch wide or narrow. Always use the left needle.
➢ Set the stitch length to 3 – 4.
➢ Attach the Coverstitch Compensating foot.
Procedure
➢ Pre-fold the seam and slide it into the guide by placing the cutting edge at
its guide, having the folded edge fed softly in the hemmer guide.
➢ Lower presser foot and sew while guiding the fabric cutting edge neatly
along its guide and supporting the fabric in front of the Hemmer Guide.
➢ Before the end of the seam in a curve or tube, stop before the first stitches
reaches the Hemmer Guide.
➢ Remove the fabric from the guide. By guiding the fabric manually, continue stitching until some stitches are sewn over the first stitches.
➢ Raise the presser foot and remove the seam.

The chrome finish (CF) reduces heat and wear and aids in slipping through the fabric. This needle has a regular point. The ELX705 needle system is specially designed for cover stitch machines. SEW STEADY TABLE DESIGN STANDARDS:
All of our tables are designed based on having the accessory tray removed from the machine. We position the machine to have the needle around 5”-7” from the front edge of the table. The table encompasses the entire freearm/flatbed sewing surface (does not wrap to the far-right of the machine). If your machine free arm slopes downward and has contours we may choose to design the table to hover over the slope to ensure a perfectly level, smooth sewing surface. If you have a top loading bobbin and a sloped machine this may affect your use. Please contact us in advance at SewSteady.com for other options. If you are purchasing a Deluxe Table then the holes do not need to be in line with the needle to make circles.
