    • Improves taste and smell of drinking water
    • Designed for easy replacement every 1500 gallons, or one year of normal family usage
    • How does it work?
Carbon molecules tend to bond together. Most health-related contaminants in tap water contain carbon molecules which tend to bond with the carbon filter. The UV400 carbon block-filter attracts and trap carbon-based contaminants as water passes through the block. Other organic contaminants also tend to adhere to porous surface and so the carbon-block filter attracts these contaminants as well. The UV400 carbon-block filter reduces more possible health-effect contaminants even withouth the UV light.
    • Does not take away healthy minerals
Healthy minerals such as magnesium, calcium and tooth-decay-fighting flouride do not have a carbon base, which means they do not bond with the carbon-filter. They simply pass through the filter and out to your water.
    • Even when you think your water is "good", you will be surprised by the improvement and difference in taste when you drink the water purified by the UV400. Try it!

Q. Will the carbon filter remove all contaminants?

A. Activated carbon readily adsorbs organic carbon-based compounds, but it doesn't have an equivalent removal capacity for inorganic compounds such as iron, lime scale, or nitrates. However the filter allows beneficial minerals and nutrients to pass through providing healthy drinking water.

Q. What about the Chlorine that city water systems add to water?

A. Chlorine changes the tastes and odor of water. Chlorination can also produce harmful by-products called Trihalomethanes (THMs) which are linked to incidence of cancer.

Q. What does the UV (Ultra-Violet) Chamber do?

A. Ultraviolet light is an effective way to treat water for microorganisms without the use of chemicals. The UV light effectively destroys disease causing bacteria and viruses in drinking water.

Q. Can I still continue to use the unit without changing the filter when Im supposed to?

A. Short answer, no. The purpose of the carbon block filter is to reduce contaminants in the drinking water. Once the filter is filled up with trapped contaminants it doesnt have room for more so the filter needs to be replaced. Recommended replacement is every 1500 gallons, or approximately one-year normal use for a family of four.

Q. Are both the carbon block and UV Chamber really necessary?

A. Carbon filtration is used with many water treatment options, and by itself reduces harmful contaminants, and inorganic contaminants (such as lead, mercury, and radon) in drinking water, however disease-causing bacteria needs to be destroyed and that is the purpose of the UV Chamber.

Q. How does the activated carbon-block filter work?

A. Carbon molecules tend to attract other carbon molecules. Most health-effect contaminants pesticides and their by-products, VOCs, and THMs, for example contain carbon molecules.

Q. Is the Carbon Block Filter hard to change?

A. It is very user friendly, simply follow the easy instructions in the manual to remove the filter and replace with a new filter. Follow the flushing procedure outlined in the manual when replacing the filter

Q. How will I know if my GLOW UV400 Water Purifier is properly installed?

A. If you followed each step of the instructions in the manual included with the GLOW UV400, your GLOW UV400 Water Purifier should be properly installed.

Q. Can this GLOW UV400 be mounted on any faucet?

A. The GLOW UV400 can be attached to more than 95% of all faucets as originally equipped or attached with internal thread adapter included with the unit. This connection takes less than 5 minutes. Also, for under the counter connection, the t-type connector included will fit most incoming water sources or other comnnections, such as self tapping saddle valves can be readily obtained from local plumbing supply stores. This is an easy installation and detailed instructions are in the manual and on the website.

Q. How does the GLOW UV400 compare to Brita style pitcher filters, etc.?

A. Pitcher filters and faucet mounted filters generally rely solely on activated carbon filtration. While activated carbon is effective at removing a wide range of contaminants, they contain a very small amount of activated carbon. And, the time the water spends in contact with the carbon is too little to provide full absorption. The activated carbon block filter inside the GLOW UV400 has nearly a 99% removal rate while the removal rates for faucet and pitcher style units is generally 30-60%.

Q. How does GLOW water purifier purify?

A. GLOW uses filtration and UV light technology: its specially designed carbon block reduces simple compounds affecting taste and odor as well as organic health-effect contaminants (such as pesticides and VOCs). It can also reduce inorganic contaminants (like lead, mercury and radon). The UV light destroys potential microorganisms (such as bacteria and viruses).

Q. Can I use the GLOW Water Purifier on well/bore water?

A. Yes. The GLOW Water Purifier was designed for use on potable (drinkable) water sources such as municipal water or potable well/bore water. It is not intended for use on lake, river, or other untreated water. We recommend that you have your water tested regularly if you use well/bore water.

Q. Can ultraviolet light make the water radioactive?

A. No. Although the water in the GLOW Water Purifier is exposed to ultraviolet light, ultraviolet light is not radioactive. Therefore, it is impossible for the water to become radioactive.

Q. Do carbon filters breed bacteria?

A. If there are bacteria present in the incoming water, they may grow in a carbon filter overnight, or during periods of inactivity. This is true for virtually any filter in the market, including carbon filters, even those treated with silver. The GLOW Water Purifier uses ultraviolet light to destroy any bacteria present in water after it leaves the carbon filter.

Q. Does the GLOW Water Purifier remove fluoride?

A. The GLOW Water Purifier does not remove fluoride from water because fluoride is not naturally attracted to carbon.

Q. Does the GLOW Water Purifier change the taste of water?

A. GLOW water purifier is not designed to purify salty water. However, it will remove many substances that affect taste, odour, and clarity of water, such as particulates or chlorine.

Q. Does the GLOW Water Purifier reduce a water taps flow rate?

A. After installing GLOW Water Purifier, the flow rate for unfiltered water will remain unchanged. However, filtered water will flow at a maximum rate of 2.5 lpm. This lower flow rate provides adequate contact time between the water, the carbon particle filter, and the UV lamp to assure proper treatment.

Q. How will I know when it is time to change the filter?

A. You will know just by checking the flow of water coming out of the water purifier. When the flow of water becomes weaker than its usual flow, this is an indication that the filter is filled up with contaminants. Then it is time to change the filter. Just be sure that the water pressure has remained unchanged since a weak water pressure can also cause a weak water flow. GLOW deliberately did not integrate an automatic monitoring device in its water purifier. One reason is that such device does not warn you when the filter is already fully used or saturated but only keeps "track" of the number of times water is drawn.

Q. What is so special about the UV lamp?

A. Ultraviolet light is an effective way to destroy microorganisms without the use of chemicals. The UV lamp produces light in a specific wavelength that is destructive to the RNA and DNA of microorganisms. The light has to be the right intensity and the water must be exposed to the light for a specific amount of time to properly dose the water. Furthermore, GLOW UV400 lamp is maintenance-free.

Q. How do I know when there is something wrong with the unit?

A. The green light/lamp of the water purifier doesn't light up and the red light blinks rapidly indicating that there is something wrong with the unit. The special solenoid valve automatically shuts off, preventing water from entering and thus preventing you from using the water purifier.
