What does it do? Simply put, Clover's Slash Cutter does all of the boring stuff. We get to select the fabric layers and sew the channels and then the Slash Cutter does the rest. It's important that the cuts be down the center of the channels and that it be easy to accomplish. To help us do that, the Slash Cutter has three primary components. The handle is designed to comfortably fit in your hand and allows us to easily control the cutter. The round blade easily makes our cuts but does not rotate while cutting. It does, however, rotate manually when it becomes necessary to advance a new, sharp section of the blade for additional cuts once the current position becomes dull. Four or more fray colors will work. Place them on your contrasting base fabric, mark lines on the bias in the width and shape that works for you. Sewing along these lines will form the fray channels. All that's left to do now is to cut through the top layers between the stitches defining the channels revealing the emerging frayed layers. But cutting is the hard, boring part that also has to be perfect. Returning to the hot pad to bedspread range, keep this in mind. The longer the cuts the more difficult and physically challenging they become. After all, we want them smooth and even but we don't want to spend all day doing them. Colors - Chacopy Tracing Paper is available as a set of five colors on individual 10" x 12" sheets. All we have to do is select the color that contrasts enough to show prominently on our fabric. Colors included are: blue, green, red, white and yellow. One of those should meet any requirements we might come across. For complex patterns we can even use two or more colors.

Application - Chacopy Tracing Paper is easy to use. If we are transferring a design to our fabric we just need to lay the tracing paper face down on the right side of our fabric and place the design we've selected on the back of that. Using a stylus or a tracing wheel, simply trace over the design, transferring the chalk to our fabric. You may want to tape the design to the Chacopy Paper to keep it from moving while tracing. Keep in mind that if you're going to hoop the fabric you'll need to leave enough space around your design to accommodate that hoop. If we're transferring the marks of a pattern to a cut pattern piece we simply lay the Chacopy Paper face up on a smooth surface. Then lay the cut pattern piece on top of it. Now the chalk surface of the paper is next to the wrong side of the fabric. Again, using a stylus or tracing wheel, simply trace over the pattern marks. They will be transferred to the wrong side of the fabric where you want them. Once our designs or marks are no longer needed we can simply wash them away. They don't smear and they always wash out. One caution though. As with any chalk based marker, ironing may make the marks difficult to remove. It's always a good idea to test any marking on a scrap of your fabric before using.

How do I share it? - Clover Chacopy Tracing Paper is the absolute easiest way to transfer designs or pattern markings onto our fabric. What is it?
Think about what we do when we construct any sewn project. Most likely we take large pieces of fabric and cut them into small pieces of fabric and then we sew them back together into large pieces of fabric again. What is it? Triangles and quilts. What do they have to do with each other. Plenty. Using half-square and quarter square triangle blocks in various arrangements of color and size have produced literally thousands of quilt patterns. Solid colors, prints, batiks, fabric styles and block orientations all contribute to an unending array of designs. And triangles seem to be an easy thing to create. Right? But how do I know what size to cut my fabric blocks to begin with? There is a formula for the half-square block. You can either add 7/8" to the finished size block you want or you can add 1" to the unfinished size block taking into account your ¼" seam allowance. Or, if you want to make eight at a time, decide what size you want your unfinished block to be, add 1" and then multiply that number by 2. That seems easy, right? No, not really. There are charts though. Nope, still a hassle. Deciding between finished and unfinished sizes, adding and subtracting, marking and cutting. The hassle is making all of those little triangles and making them perfect in both symmetry and size so everything fits together and we get the designs we wanted when we picked out our fabric. It can be a difficult task that will take all of the fun out of creating. Some quilters don't even try. There's got to be another way, right? There is. Clover has developed an amazing tool that takes out all of the hassle and allows us to create half square and quarter square quilt blocks with reckless abandon. It's the No-Hassle Triangles Gauge. This is a nifty little tool that solves all of the triangle problems, does the math and even shows us exactly where to put our diagonal lines.

What does it do? The No-Hassle Triangles Gauge allows you to achieve your triangle quest with ease, either half square or quarter square. No guess work. No Mistakes. No hassle.
For half square triangles you refer to the left side of the gauge. There you will find five different sizes of blocks. Reset the locking slide to the diagonal line below the size desired for your quilt design. The two numbers above will tell you what size to cut your blocks and what size the final triangle block will be. Once the blocks are cut, superimpose the triangle gauge within a double stacked block and mark the center line. Sew your scant quarter inch on either side of the marked line and then cut, unfold and press. Voila! You now have a perfect half square triangle block.
For quarter square triangles you refer to the right side of the gauge where five size blocks are also indicated. Proceed to form half square blocks as above. Once complete simply match up two half square blocks, rotate 90° and repeat using the gauge to mark the final diagonal. Sew a scant quarter inch on either side, cut along the line and press open. Now you have perfect quarter square triangle blocks. What could be easier?


How do I share it? The No-Hassle Triangles Gauge is a class and an in-store demonstration. Just seeing it in its packaging will not convey its use or usefulness. Classes are obvious. For the in-store demo simply make a few half square and quarter square triangle quilt blocks and display them along with the gauge. A story board showing each step really conveys your message and will generate questions. Make sure all of your associates know how to do a demo. Show it with a quilt you've made at a meeting of your quilt guild. Everyone will want one.
