  • CoverPro is a dedicated cover hem stitch machine, without any other serge, overlock, or rolled hem stitches, and does not cut the material, as you are sewing on a fold to hem or further into the fabric for décorative cover hem stitching.

With a wide double straight top stitch and bottom cover hem serg stitch, the 900CP is our most economical CoverPro machine. Its innovative design is based on the marriage of an industrial-style cover hem machine and a convenient home machine. The resulting union has produced a high-speed, long arm, heavy-duty cover hem machine that looks and operates like a sewing machine.

It's the perfect companion machine for home dec, quilting and garment making.

  • Largest work space on the market (4" x 5.5")
  • Exclusive free arm configuration (Brother, Singer, Juki and Bernina do not have)
  • Wide Double cover hem (6mm) Wide 2 needle cover hem (6mm)and a Chain stitch
  • Vertical needle drop
  • Presser foot lifter positioned behind needle: operate with either hand
  • Variable stitch length: 1-5mm
  • Sews up to 1,000 stitches per minute
  • Variable differential feed ratio: 0.5 - 2.25 times
  • Stitch length and differential feed dials located on belt cover for easy handling

The cover stitch is what gives garments their professional looking finish. This stitch (also called a "cover hem" or interlock) was previously available only on sergers, and then, often only on the highest-end sergers.

With the release of its CoverPro series, the Janome Sewing Machine Company has made this sophisticated finish available on a model with the power and control of an industrial specialty machine, but with the unique look and feel of a home sewing machine the two new CoverPro cover stitch sewing machines offer home sewers all the possibilities of cover stitch sewing while simplifying both set up and operation.

The CoverPro 900CP is a more economical model, offering a wide 5mm, double-needle cover stitch and a chain stitch. Because they only do these two types of stitches, they're extremely fast up to 1,000 stitches per minute and much easier to set up and use. They look more like regular sewing machines, and offer familiar features that make them easier to use than sergers, like a full size sewing bed, free arm sewing, vertical needle drop and a one-hand thread cutter.

The cover stitch is especially suited to stretchy fabrics like knits, as well as the popular new blends of traditional woven fabrics with a small percentage of stretch fiber added for extra flexibility. The CoverPro series machines are ideal for constructing projects from fashion tops to competition ice skating costumes.

  • The cover stitch is a serger-type stitch made without the knives (no fabric is cut), so it can be used not only to finish hems, necklines, collars and cuffs, but also for decorative effects in the middle of the fabric. Cover stitches can be made with two or three needles. For example, a double needle cover stitch will show two lines of straight stitching on the top of the fabric with the two lines joined by a looping stitch on the bottom side. Because both sides of a cover stitch are finished, it looks great with decorative thread.

icon Extra large bed space
The 900CP has the largest bed space you can get on a cover hem machine 4" x 5.5". With such generous space you can actually make a cover stitch in the middle of a garment.

icon What can you do with a CoverPro?
It's the perfect companion for your sewing machine. You can make fashion and active wear in a jiffy. Dance, skate and gymnastics outfits are ideal projects for CoverPro. For instance, you can apply elastic within a casing with a professional finish--all in one pass. You can also make dazzling decorative effects.

icon The 900CP is a two-needle, three thread machine. So you can choose the set-up that's right for you. It uses the ELX705 needle system found on industrial machines.

icon The Easiest Threading System You've Ever Seen
Upper needle threading is color coded, easy to see and smooth. But it is the lower looper that will really make you smile. It is the easiest ever. Simply pull the thread through, push the looper closed, and your ready to stitch. A handy needle threader is included.

icon High Speed Professional Stitching
The 900CP produces a wide 5mm double-needle cover stitch and chain stitch. Sew up to 1,000 stitches per minute.

icon The Most Control Over Stitch Length and Differential Feed
You get a greater range of variable stitch length and differential feed adjustment than on any other home machine. The CoverPro series machines lead the competition in stitch length control (1mm - 4mm) and differential feed ratio (0.5-2.25).

icon Vertical Needle Drop Just Like A Sewing Machine
You get the same vertical needle action as a sewing machine for improved stitching. Extra space around the mechanism makes switching out needles fast and easy. The presser foot lifter is easier to reach than on a serger. And there's a one hand thread cutter just like on your sewing machine.

icon Free Arm Design
Only the CoverPro Series give you both cover stitching and a free arm. You'll finish the sleeves, cuffs, waistbands and other hard-to-reach seams faster and with better handling.

Can you tell me if this machine does the Hem stitching that is used on baby blankets where the crochet goes in the holes it makes?
Kandace. No, the CoverPro is a Bottom Cover Hem Stitching machine that makes the serger-type stretchy bottom hems in sportsware knits, with two or three staight topstitches on top. A Hemstitching machine makes the holes in heirloom fabrics to attach entredaux to. You can use a Schmetz single or double wing needle and heirloom stitches built into most top of the line computer sewing machines at http://www.allbrands.com/products/abc0728.html Let me know if you have any questions about them.
