The variables in machine embroidery are almost infinite - finding the best combination of needle, thread, stabilizer, hooping method, stitch underlay, stitch length and density - and this is just for ordinary fabrics!
Deborah Jones simplifies this process, providing a wealth of information to help you refine the variables to get great results for nineteen of the most difficult fabrics to machine embroider.

- Deborah Jones is a second generation embroiderer who learned much about embroidery from her father, a tailor who created elaborate embroidered stage costumes for country music performers and rodeo stars. She began using automated embroidery machines in the late 1960s and in later years sold multi-needle machines for several large industrial distributors.
- In her career, Deborah has managed production in large-scale embroidery shops, operated her own successful embroidery businesses, served as an editor of a major U.S. embroidery magazine and developed training programs for single and multi-needle embroidery machine owners. Considered an expert in embroidery for home and commercial machines, Deborah is the author of the popular reference book, Machine Embroidery on Difficult Materials, widely considered one of the most valuable reference books for computerized embroidery techniques. Her expertise covers digitizing, application technique and the business of embroidery. Currently Deborah teaches embroidery topics in a wide range of venues including dealer events. The books were received in less than pleasant condition. Stickers from the front of the books were gouged and dug off with fingernails and every book was marred. I returned the books, Jeanne was very responsive and helpful regarding the return. However, I've yet to receive my refund.
