Janome has been at the cutting edge of sewing technology since its founding. Janome developed the first computerized sewing machine for home use -- the Memory 7, back in the 1970s.

Then in the 1980s, Janome launched the home embroidery revolution with the release of the Memory Craft 8000. As the first machine in the industry to offer Professional Style Embroidery to the home market, the Memory Craft 8000 opened up vast new possibilities for creative users. Janome has achieved International Organization for Standardization: ISO9000 approval for sewing machine manufacturing and ISO14000 for environmental controls, including recovery of milling fluids and powder painting processes.
