Additional Information:
Janome has been at the cutting edge of sewing technology since its founding. Janome developed the first computerized sewing machine for home use -- the Memory 7, back in the 1970s. Janome sewing and embroidery enthusiasts have the most powerful, most sophisticated home machines on the market - with patented stepping-motor technology and industry-leading software. Then in the 1980s, Janome launched the home embroidery revolution with the release of the Memory Craft 8000. Janome also makes sewing, embroidery, quilting and serger machine models for Viking, Pfaff, Elna, Sears-Kenmore and Necchi. Janome has achieved International Organization for Standardization: ISO9000 approval for sewing machine manufacturing and ISO14000 for environmental controls, including recovery of milling fluids and powder painting processes.
Janome America was founded in 1860 in Orange, MA, with the production of the New England Single Thread Hand Sewing Machine . Over the next 20 years, the New England machine and the Home Shuttle were their two most significant products. In 1882, the company reformed under the name New Home (a combination of the labels New England and Home Shuttle), and it continued to operate under that name for the better part of a century. In 1960, the New Home brand was purchased by the Janome Sewing Machine Company of Tokyo, Japan. This auspicious merger has brought us to the current day, as the Janome Sewing Machine Company - the world's largest manufacturer of home sewing machines. |
