icon Assisted by Brother National Educator Jane Olson: Jane Olsen has been surrounded by sewing and needlecrafts since the day she was born. Her mom and older sisters were always sewing clothes, crocheting doilies or knitting mittens and sweaters. As soon as she was able to hold a pair of scissors Jane began honing her fabric cutting skills with pinking scissors on her sister’s dress. She has fond memories of nosing around the yard good store in her childhood town in rural Maine for supplies to fuel her crafty inspirations.
Jane moved to a remote town in Alaska right out of high school. Knowing just one couple, she kept herself busy baking and working on crafts. When she moved to the city of Anchorage she began a 24-year career with Alaska Airlines and was delighted to discover an entire work family of crafty ladies who introduced her to the wonderful world of quilting. She also sewed Halloween and school play costumes for her own four children.
Upon retiring from the airlines, Jane spent several years working in Alaska quilt stores where she met more friends with the same passion for crafting and quilting. In 2012, Jane relocated to her home state of Maine where she worked with mentally and physically challenged adults. However, when the opportunity to join the Brother Team presented itself, Jane jumped at the opportunity to pursue her sewing passion and share the love and enthusiasm with other sewing enthusiasts.
