Event Overview
Give your gear a second life! Join Patagonia Austin and AllBrands.com for an afternoon of hands-on learning where you’ll practice repair techniques to keep your favorite Patagonia items in use for years to come.
Guided by professional instructors and using Bernina machines, you’ll practice seam repair, patching, snap/button replacement, and more. This event is about sustainability, skills, and community.

1:00 – 2:30 PM | Canvas & Woven Fabrics | Repair canvas jackets, packs, and woven garments — seam repair, patching, strap fixes. |
2:30 – 4:00 PM | Athleisurewear Repair | Mend stretch and lightweight fabrics using serger and stretch-stitch techniques. |
4:00 – 5:00 PM | Buttons & Snaps | Replace buttons, install snaps, and reinforce Velcro closures — hand and machine techniques. |
Price: $15 per session • Capacity: 10 participants per session
Collectible Patches
Each completed session includes a custom Repair Scout patch. Complete all three sessions and earn the exclusive Sustainable Stitcher badge.

Registration
Register online in advance at AllBrands.com. Choose 1, 2, or all 3 sessions. Sessions are capped at 10 participants each.
Photo uploads: After registering you will receive an email with a link where you can upload photos of up to 2 Patagonia items you plan to bring. If you prefer, you may instead email images directly to [email protected].
Note: This is a skill-building clinic, not a professional repair service. Some technical items (e.g., waterproof outerwear) may require professional repair — instructors will advise when necessary.
Optional: Intermediate Workshop
Attendees will be invited to an Intermediate Repair Workshop in a future month covering zipper replacement, seam taping, advanced patching, and machine care. (Hosted at AllBrands Sewing & More — Austin; Patagonia location pending.)
Instructor: Barbara Douthat is a Manager at AllBrands.com, one of the nation’s largest independent sewing machine and fabric retailers. As a second-generation member of the founding family, Barbara brings both a deep legacy and a modern vision to the business.
Growing up around the hum of sewing machines and the rhythm of customer care, Barbara has a lifelong passion for the sewing and crafting community. Today, she helps lead day-to-day operations across AllBrands' retail stores and e-commerce, while also spearheading partnerships and events that bring creativity, sustainability, and community engagement to the forefront.
Known for her approachable leadership style and attention to detail, Barbara is committed to making AllBrands not only a destination for high-quality sewing products but also a hub for learning, support, and inspiration. Barbara is proud to carry forward the values her family built AllBrands on: service, quality, and innovation.
Heather Grant is the Regional Sales Manager for BERNINA of America, covering Louisiana, New Mexico, and Texas. A lifelong sewing enthusiast, she brings extensive industry experience, including a previous role managing BERNINA’s Education programs. Heather is an active member of several sewing guilds and participates regularly in manufacturer education initiatives, where she shares her passion for sewing and fosters creativity within the community.
