This is an entirely new concept for Anita Goodesign, our first petal quilt. The concept is actually very simple. You stitch the individual petals first using the fabric of your choice. Then you simply attach them using our included pattern onto quilt backgrounds. Once the quilt blocks are finished, you can use them as you would any other quilt block, or create a unique bag like we did. There are 10 different types of petals and bag patterns. You will not be able to make just one!

We have created quite a few bookmark collections in the past but this is our first bookmark that hangs over the edge of the page, thus the name Book Huggers!
This design is created in a freestanding fashion, much like our Holiday Felt Gift Tags, with the exception that this design has a satin finishing stitch for the outline. This is an easy task to master and it is the same way that we create our coasters, ornaments, stabilizer holders and table toppers. This is a great technique to learn and what better way to learn than with a cute bookmark.
These furry friends are fun and easy to create, plus they also make great gifts for kids of all ages!

Since we started printing on fabric for our quilt block backgrounds, we have had dozens of ideas. By using a custom printed background, you are now able to incorporate fabric into your designs in a whole new way. Instead of designs that would be over 50,000 stitches, we are able to create beautiful designs at a fraction of that stitch count. The technique is very simple to master, and once you start printing your own fabric, you won’t be able to stop! Sports/Mini Collection/45 Designs
We get asked often to create a sports collection. Instead of just sports balls we wanted to do something a little different. We include 7 different balls in both stitched and appliqué versions. Then we created 4 different scenes, a tribal ball, and flames with a crown, a banner and finally wing’s with a scroll. We then created a version with each of the 7 balls so you wouldn’t have to do any editing. There are also three bonus scenes included. We embroidered the football design on a draw-string bag for our project. The balls would look great on anything you stitch them on including adding them to a quilt using our Quilting Essentials collection.

This is a beautiful floral quilt that is perfect for spring and summer. We love fat quarter bundles and that is what we used to choose fabric for this collection. The collection was 90% finished when we decided to do something different with it. In addition to spring colors, we decided to create the designs with shades of white and grey with color pops of fluorescent thread. We have had those bright fluorescent colors in our thread library for years and never had the opportunity to use them. When they are used as color pops they look great. The latest fad in holiday gatherings for the last few years has been Ugly Christmas Sweater parties! There are contests to see who is wearing the ugliest holiday sweater, and boy, there are some doozies. We wanted to create our own ugly sweaters, and had a big art meeting to figure out how to do it. Believe it or not, this was a tough collection to design. At Anita Goodesign, we are so used to creating beautiful embroidery designs that it was daunting to design something intentionally ugly. Then we had the idea to create a series of designs and borders that, by themselves, are actually quite nice, but, when combined together with embellishments and trims, they turn out, well, rather ugly. There are Christmas unicorns, elves, snowmen, and other Christmas favorites. You will have a lot of fun with these designs. Since the designs are actually beautiful, you do not have to create an ugly sweater, you can create a nice one. I have only one question: I wonder if the first ugly Christmas sweater was done on purpose?

Twice a year we all go on a trip and bring all of our ideas and inspirations and talk about design ideas for a few days. The atmosphere is very creative with lots of drawing and sketching. You can see the actual process in our Hardcover Book “Anita Goodesign through the years” This new Grecian Garden collection was designed at our latest retreat. We’ve always loved the embossed details on pottery and cameos, especially Wedgwood pottery. The stark contrast of the white on blue is always striking. There are 20 main designs and they each come in 2 sizes, there are also 13 isolated smaller designs. The collection has everything from cameos, to flowers, leaves, grapes and classic Greek designs. Fabric inspired this collection. Ombre or graduated color is very popular in both fashion and home decor so you are starting to see this color style available in quilting fabric, which is wonderful. If you had to choose 20 different shades of the same color it would be difficult, luckily it has been done for us and there are fat quarter bundles available in many different ombre color variations. When I saw this fabric I immediately thought, “How can I use these designs in a quilt?” Subway tiles immediately came to mind since they are rectangles and will allow you to blend the colors in a shorter space as opposed to using a square. Once the concept was in place we created 16 different quilted themes and these themes each come in 4 shapes. You can mix the themes together or create an entire quilt using only 1 theme. The end result will be visually striking embroidered quilt.

We carefully selected 20 of our favorite Mix and Match quilt collections and digitized free motion blocks to go with them using all new artwork. Everyone loves our free-motion digitizing, but the 20 themes we selected did not include any free-motion designs, so we decided to create them.
