Washaway, Wash Away, Wash A Way, Water Soluble, Wet Gone, Aqua Film, Stabilizer Backings andToppings
Question: I am looking for a NON TOXIC wash away topping to use on baby items...stuffed animals, etc. I can tear away the stabilizer on these items but can not submerge in water or wash them to get rid if what might remain under the embroidery. Since babies put everything in their mouths I need something that is non toxic. I typically use OESD stabilizers and use the Aqua Film topping but I can not find any information as to whether this is non toxic. Do you sell a wash away topping that specifically states that it is non toxic? Thank you!One Answer: I just read the question by the customer. If a child eats the wash away before it is just that washed away, yes there are chemicals. But after? Hoop it All/ Creativefeet's wash away product is gone following directions. Are there enough chemicals to injure a child? Maybe if that child sat down and ate a package. Even then with it being a wah away product these "chemicals" are weak because they dissolve in water. As you must know almost every stabilizer out there has oil derivatives in them. Also when you get into the adhesives applied to them they contain certain chemicals. I believe the proper questions should be. Do these stabilizers contain enough chemical based components to harm a child. My quick answer would be no. If a child sat down and ate a roll of stabilizer then I would say yes, that child would "possibly" get sick. All water soluble products should dissolve completely leaving no residue. Hoop It All

Remove the protective paper from the Adhesive Sew N Wash stabilizer. Place the metal frame (sold separately), wrong side up, and finger press the sticky side of the stabilizer to the wrong side of the metal frame. Turn the hoop right side up.
Place your item on the adhesive stabilizer, attach the frame to the machine and stitch the design.

Sticky Hoop comes with a metal bottom frame. The bottom frame includes a machine attachment that is recognized by the embroidery machine.
Snap Hoop Monster® Owners - Please Note:
The Sticky Hoop frame and Snap Hoop Monster® frames are not interchangeable. Each has been designed to perform its intended task efficiently and smoothly. Applying adhesive to the bottom of Snap Hoop Monster® will remove the hoop’s ability to glide effortlessly across the machine bed. Because there are almost as many different backings as there are applications, Exquisite offers a complete line to meet all of your embroidery needs. This way, for each movement of the embroidery achine, you will have an equal movement of the fabric. Most Exquisite backings are made from non-directional materials, providing equal tension in all directions, and have silicone to help lubricate the needle during embroidery, minimizing thread breaks. When deciding which backing to use, consider the fabric on which the design is being stitched, the stitch count and the density of the design. Since different fabrics require different support or stabilization- the more stretch in the fabric, the more stabilizer required. However, thicker is not necessarily more stable. Heavy Weight (3 oz): Ideal for medium to heavy stitch counts on stable to semi-stable fabrics. Also works well as heavy weight cap backing.
Tear and Wash: Tearaway stabilizer that dissolves in the wash. Simply tear excess stabilizer from the finished embroidery. Any remaining residue will dissolve with regular washing. More than one washing may be needed for complete removal. Ideal for towels or linens where the back side of the embroidery is visible.
EZ Tear Flame Retardant: A medium weight perforated tearaway with a soft feel, making it ideal for use on children’s wear. Tears easily and cleanly around embroidery.
SPECIALTY Stabilizers
Water Soluble Topping (.09 oz): Plastic topping used on the top side of fabrics such as terrycloth, velour, loosely knit pique, sweaters, corduroy, fleece and velvet. Improves embroidery quality by preventing stitches from sinking into the pile of the fabric. Tear away the excess topping after the embroidery process. Then use a light mist of water to dissolve remaining topping and brush away the residue.
Peel’N Stick: An adhesive tearaway stabilizer used for “hoopless” embroidery. Ideal for velvet, napped materials, silk, knits, vinyl, leather, and any material that won’t fit in a standard hoop. No need for water-activated adhesive stabilizers or spray adhesives.
Fuse’N Tear: Ideal for knits and other stretchy fabrics. Eliminates annoying shifting, sliding, and puckering of material. Fuse the fabric to the Fuse’N Tear before or after putting in the embroidery hoop. Excess then tears away easily, leaving no sticky residue.
Sew’N Wash: Soft stable fabric designed to dissolve in water. Use as a stabilizer, to embroider on lace or other open weave materials, or for “free standing” embroidery.
Adhesive Sew’N Wash: Soft stable fabric designed to dissolve in water, with an adhesive on one side. Provides additional stabilization when embroidering on lace or free-standing embroidery.
Fuse So Soft: A lightweight tricot with a permanent fusible on one side. Excellent for quilting when a permanent stabilizer is needed or as a backing behind embroidery for a soft feel against the skin.
Fuse’N Stick: One side has a low-melt adhesive activated by a medium setting on a hand iron while the other contains a pressure sensitive adhesive protected by a paper backing. Ideal for applique.
Sew’ N Heat: A clear stabilizer used for fabrics not conductive to moisture such as silk or wool.
Stick’ N Wash: An adhesive tearaway used for “hoopless” embroidery or to provide additional stabilization of items during the embroidery process.

Be sure to use a piece at least one inch larger than the outer parameter of the hoop to insure proper stabilization. *Important - Use a low temp (260°, silk) setting on your iron. Do not touch the surface of your iron to the Wet N Gone Fusible®, use a press cloth (muslin or cotton). Press quickly! It is not necessary to hold the iron to the fabric for more than three seconds.
- Repeat steps 2-4 from above.
To use Wet N Gone Tacky®:
- Place one layer of the product in your embroidery hoop, paper side up.
- Score the release paper with a pin or needle and peel back.
- Stick the garment or item to be embroidered in place and smooth out any wrinkles.
*Tip - It is necessary to use "soft" water to get optimal rinse results with this product.
- Repeat steps 2 - 4 from above.
