- Care Instructions:To clean the pressing plate, place the pressing cushion in the center of the ironing board. Place a clean towel over the pressing cushion and the ironing board. Set the temperature control to its maximum setting. When the ready light comes on and the steam ready light goes off, gently lower the pressing plate onto the pressing cushion. With water in the water tank, press the burst of steam button 6 to 7 times. Be careful to avoid touching the hot metal surfaces or leaving your hand in the way of steam.
Once the pressing plate has cooled down you can clean the surface with a damp cloth. DO NOT use any abrasive material or cleaner on the pressing plate! This pressing plate has a non-stick coating that will help for cleaning.
The ironing board cover is removable for normal washing. You can clean the ironing board cover with water and mild detergent; rinse with warm water.

Neither has the model number on the back of the press, which still says FP202E. You can verify that the press you receive is the new 32x10" bed size. The new LED display allows the user to see the exact temperature of the steam press, and the scrolling LED’s let you know that the desired temperature is being reached.
Like its predecessor (S500), the pressing surface on the S550 is a whopping 34” X 11”, over 10 times larger than most hand held irons. Pressing with the S550 can reduce ironing time by up to 70%.
NOTE: Effective immediately, all Reliable S550’s will be shipped with a new all metal mesh pressing plate, instead of wood pressing board. Only Reliable uses an exclusive metal mesh plate for the bottom-pressing surface. We use metal because unlike wood, it will not warp. But most importantly, the steam coming from the head will no longer get trapped in the wood press plate. This reduces condensation, and along with an improved one-piece pad cover set with thick felt padding, greatly improves the pressing performance of the S550.

*As of Monday Feb. 22, 2010 all of our model ST3A stands will come with a metal bolt in the box. This bolt is 1/2" in diameter x 1" long x # 13 thread size. In order to secure the press to the metal stand, the user must first remove the plastic screw from the bottom of the steam press and then place the metal bolt through the stand, inside the same hole of the plastic screw and then tighten.

Reliable™ understands that the quality of a boiler/iron is only as good (no matter how nice it looks) as what is inside it. This is why we use 12-gauge wiring throughout, a ceramic (not plastic) terminal block, and an all stainless steel steam tank to eliminate the chance of rust.

A sensor on the element automatically detects when the water level is low, and shuts itself off. A light will come on, telling you it is time to refill the tank.
- Regular tap water
The i500 is easy to use and to operate. Simply fill it up with regular tap water, plug it in, and in 10 minutes you will have beautiful dry steam.
- Pressure gauge feature
All Reliable™ Steamer boilers have a built-in pressure gauge so you don’t have to guess what the operating pressure is. This is an important safety feature, and one you will not want to live without once you have used it.
