Assembling Treadle Sewing Machine Cabinet
it is best to start with the cabinet top upside down on the floor to attach the drawer units to the bottom of the table top. Then hold the stand side panels apart (may take two people) in order to attach the foot pedal and flywheel assemblies in between Then attach the assembled stand to the table top before turning right side up. Then install your Janome 712T onto the cabinet hinges and hook up the belt to the machine hand wheel and stand flywheel. Please email or call me when you need help on the next step. Use an adjustable height ruler foot (non hopping) like Sew Steady has with slots to set the distance between bottom of foot and the needle plate. Low enough to prevent flagging of fabric on the needle and just high enough to allow for fabric movement under the foot without any drag. Three Types of Quilting Foot / Drop Feed
- Three types of quilting feet are supplied as standard accessories with the machine. A 1/5" Quilting Foot is supplied along with a a 1/4" quilting foot and a quilting foot with a front open toe. The feed dog can be raised and lowered simply by depressing a switch. When quilting, the drop feed allows you to sew curved stitches with ease.
Quilting Foot Front Open Toe
- This presser foot for free-motion sewing is open at the front so that the needle area is easy to see. Since the presser foot moves up and down together with the movement of the needle, thick seams can easily be crossed.
1/5" Quilting Foot
- This presser foot is used for free-motion quilting. With the feed dog lowered, you can freely move the fabric to draw using stitching. The distance from the needle entry point to the outer edge of the presser foot is 1/5” (5mm). Since the presser foot moves up and down together with the movement of the needle, thick seams can easily be crossed.
1/4" Quilting Foot
- With a distance of 1/4” (6.5mm) from the needle entry point to the outer edge, this presser foot is perfect for echo quilting, stitching sewn equally spaced using the edge of the presser foot as a guide.

- A separate attachment mounting plate for installing fabric guides and other attachments. This extends the life of the sewing machine, as it can now be replaced when the mounting holes become damaged.
Float Function (micro-lifter)

"I found great success with my JUKI industrial, so it was an easy decision to purchase additional JUKI machines like the JUKI TL-2010Q straight stitch sewing machine. This is hands-down my favorite machine to sew on! I can easily piece my quilts, make most bags and even do some free motion quilting. It sews like a dream! And because I love free motion quilting, I added a JUKI J-350QVP as well. I occasionally quilt other people’s quilts, but because my long arm is currently on a table (and not a frame) I mostly just quilt my quilts with my J-350QVP. One of my business goals is to transition my long arm sit down to a frame and add the automation package. Both my kids are still in the house so until they fly the coop, I don’t have the real estate in my home for a longarm business right now. SEW STEADY TABLE DESIGN STANDARDS:
All of our tables are designed based on having the accessory tray removed from the machine. We position the machine to have the needle around 5”-7” from the front edge of the table. The table encompasses the entire freearm/flatbed sewing surface (does not wrap to the far-right of the machine). If your machine free arm slopes downward and has contours we may choose to design the table to hover over the slope to ensure a perfectly level, smooth sewing surface. If you have a top loading bobbin and a sloped machine this may affect your use. Please contact us in advance at SewSteady.com for other options. If you are purchasing a Deluxe Table then the holes do not need to be in line with the needle to make circles.

The table is designed to never be resting on or touching the machine. You may have to adjust the levelers on the feet to make sure the table is perfectly level with the top of the free arm in order to sit as designed. Please let us know if you are interested in these options. We are happy to accommodate other special requests as well with proper measurements and pictures if needed.
