Touchscreen editing

The touchscreen on the DX-4000QVP allows you to easily edit the stitch design, needle position, and thread tension, lift or lower the presser foot, and turn thread trimming on or off.

This machine features new built-in stitches not included on previous models. Simply touch a stitch on the touchscreen to bring up that category of stitches. Then swipe to the left or right to browse other stitch categories. You can scroll through the different stitches simply by swiping up or down on the touchscreen.

Select your stitch and you now have on-screen editing capabilities! The knobs below the screen allow you to adjust the presser foot pressure, 10mm stitch length for basting, and 7mm stitch width on many patterns. The sample stitch on the screen will change in real time with you adjustments.

By tapping the thread tension icon on the screen will take you to the new integrated wheel on the touchscreen that will allow you to change the thread tension. If the Bernina LCD panel goes out, you cannot see what stitch you have selected displayed on screen. The swing out foot locks the machine hand wheel in place. • This presser foot for free-motion sewing is open at the front so that the needle area is easy to see. Since the presser foot moves up and down together with the movement of the needle, thick seams can easily be crossed.
  
  1/5" Quilting Foot
  
• This presser foot is used for free-motion quilting. With the feed dog lowered, you can freely move the fabric to draw using stitching. The distance from the needle entry point to the outer edge of the presser foot is 1/5” (5mm). Since the presser foot moves up and down together with the movement of the needle, thick seams can easily be crossed.

  Direct drive motor with metal gears without any belts makes the machine more responsive and quieter. Specifically the motor is built into the head on the main shaft and the lower shaft is turned by a gear, there is no belt noise.
  
  It has 18x10" or 180 square inches of arm space, compared to 118" for Tin Lizzie 18x6", 144" for Handiquilter Avante 18x8", and 144" for Tin Lizzie 24x6" heads. That's 25% more arm space more than 18x8 or 24x6 arms.
