From the website alone, I wasn't able to determine that the Brother PED Basic was the product I needed to be able to use my Brother PC-8500 embroidery function with my current desktop computer with Windows 10. I was about to select a different product, but I was still quite uncertain about it. That's why I called customer service and I'm so glad I did. Eugenie was EXTREMELY patient and helpful to me. She listened to what I wanted and directed me to consider the Brother PED Basic program. It was exactly what I needed. I was able to install it easily and write designs to the card. Wish that I would've been able to realize that PE Basic was not exactly what it was advertised. I couldn't compare it to PE Lite and thought that Basic had replaced Lite and that since the new PE programs didn't need Lite to run that was why the PE Basic was replacing Lite. However, since my Lite had quit working, I ended up buying Basic with the wrong perception and it is nothing compared to Lite, so basically I need another program. Truthfully every other company also didn't give enough info about Basic and I like Allbrands so I purchased from Allbrands instead of anywhere else. So the product information every is also misleading. When I went to the actual store is where a Gwen explained the difference and the actual product that I should've bought. Lesson learned: sometimes it"s better to go to the store for product info and comparison.

Thanks for the great service. I have a very old (1998) Brother PC-8200, and with the PED-Basic card reader, I can now start to download embroidery designs. I haven't really done embroidery on the machine before this, just sewing.

Great little item. I even installed it myself. Have not figured out what all it does yet, but will do that shortly. But I did get to my designs and it works. I am very happy with this box. New computer and old converter box would not work and my embroidery machine is about 17 yrs old, so this has worked out very well for me. AllBrands answered all my questions before I bought it, which helped so much.
