Garment Sewing Seams Series: Part 1 — Essential Construction Seams is a beginner-friendly
instructional class focused on teaching the foundational seams used in garment sewing. This
class is designed for students who are new to clothing construction or who want to strengthen
their understanding of proper seam techniques before advancing to more complex garments.

Students will learn how to sew and properly press essential construction seams, including plain
seams, basic seam finishes, and seams used for curved areas. Instruction will also cover seam
allowances, stitch selection, and how to choose the appropriate seam based on fabric type and
garment application.

This class includes live demonstrations followed by guided, hands-on practice. Students will
create a labeled seam sampler that can be kept as a reference for future sewing projects. This
class serves as Part 1 of a 3-part garment seams series but may also be taken as a standalone
class.
