Gravity Feed Irons only have steam holes at the front by design. Steaming should be done slightly above the fabric, just before pressing strokes with a then dry soleplate which also helps to remove moisture. Steam is only required to relax the fibers before pressing dry. If you steam at the same time while using pressing strokes, it will add too much moisture to the fabric and cool the iron soleplate down. Gravity feed irons do not have continuous steam boilers, so steaming should be done intermitantly between pressing strokes, not constantly. That way that the iron soleplate and steam chamber does not have a chance to cool down and spit out condensation.

(Q)I have a small art business. I need to iron a lot of wool sweaters. I don't need an iron for delicate fabrics. What is the difference between the gravity fed iron and the steam generating iron? (A)THE HIGHER THE TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE OF THE STEAM GENERATING BOILER, THE LESS HUMIDITY IS IN THE STEAM.

How to Use Gravity Feed Irons: 1. Hang bottle apx. 40 inches above pressing surface. 2. Connect the silicone hose to the iron and bottle. 3. Empty demineralizer package into the bottle and fill it with tap water only. 4. Tie the electrical cord and hose together. 5. Plug the iron cord into a grounded electrical outlet. 6. Set the temperature dial on NO. 4 and let the iron heat up for ten minutes. 7. Open the bottle valve and allow the hose to fill with water by pressing the steam switch. The iron is now ready for use. 8. When not pressing, place the iron on the supplied iron rest. Do not stand on its back!
