The Eco-friendly Challenge Deconstruct/Reconstruct As an award-winning designer and fashion professor, Dr. McRoberts, specializes in creative design, 3-dimensional design (draping), couture finishing techniques, and alligator leather design. She interned at Vera Wang in New York, studied couture beading techniques at LeSage in Paris, has taught seniors at LSU that ended up on Project Runway, and taught various workshops during various fashion weeks. The Louisiana Fashion Doctor will help you find your creative self and design a mini-collection. You don’t have to know how to draw and can have minimal sewing experience for this first session. You will be given a croquis (model figure) to draw on and some inspiration to help you form your line. Bring some old clothes: a dress, t-shirt and/or jeans. You will deconstruct them, and experiment with natural and traditional dyeing techniques. Then you will re-purpose the materials and construct one of your mini-collection garments. This will be fun and fulfilling. The 20-hour (5hrs per day x 4 days) workshop fee will be $158. Supply kit fee $10. Bring lunch.
