Anime Matsuri is an annual three-day anime convention March 30 - April 1 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. Beginning Sewing - Class 1 of 4 - Ages 8 & up

This is a 4-day class on Tues Apr 3rd through Friday Apr 6th. You will attend each day from 9:30-12:00; please arrive a half-hour early to set up your machine. Total class fee is $95. Kit fee $25. All fees are due when you register; call the store to register and reserve your spot! In this class you will learn to read a pattern, cut out simple projects, stitch a simple hem, sew on a button, thread your machine & fill a bobbin, as well as straight stitching and zig zag stitching. We will complete several small projects together throughout the week including, but not limited to, a small pillow and pin cushion/trash container. Supplies needed: Bring YOUR machine, fabric scissors, tape measure, pins, seam ripper, marking chalk or pen, 2 bobbins, 1 spool white or off white thread. Teacher: Helen Kelly-Coco. Optional: Purchase the Start-to-Sew Kit in the store for $14.99 (includes all of the accessories above plus tracing papers, wheel, pin cushion, needle threader, sewing gauge, 10 hand needles, and thimble)

Embroidery Applique for Beginners

In this class, we will applique on a hand towel. Please note: This class is for those new to applique, but who are familiar with their own embroidery machine. You should be able to perform basic hooping before attending this class! For this class, we typically do a holiday themed design - bring your own threads if you desire. In this class, you will learn how to use strip quilting techniques to create 4 mini log cabin blocks, which will then be sewn together to make your choice - either a pillow or wall hanging!
